Alexandr Vondra

Alexandr Vondra studied geography at the Faculty of Science of Charles University. For several years he worked as a curator of the Asian collections of the Náprstek Museum, then as a programmer. He signed Charter 77 and served as its spokesman in 1989-1990. In 1997-2001 he was the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the USA, in 2006-2007 Minister of Foreign Affairs, in 2007-2009 Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, in 2010-2012 Minister of Defense. Since 2019 he has been a Member of the European Parliament and since 2020 Deputy Chairman of the ODS.
